Welcome to the Porvoo culture boat, berthed at the shore of the Porvoo river opposite the old town. Come and experience the best of Reggae music & Dub outside at this open-air event held by the ark, last time in this year!
Dub by the Ark will bring Porvoo some of the finest Finnish Reggae bands & Sound Systems providing musical upliftment for each and everyone. With a focus on reggae & dub, we will create an amazing atmosphere by the Porvoo river. Come and enjoy the culture at this special location, from near and far!
The location will have a café serving snacks, coffee and some drinks. The event is picnic-orientated so that you can bring your own drinks and food to the event.
Line Up:
Puppa J
Puppa J is a Finnish reggae and dancehall artist. He has released one solo album (Oi aikoja!, 2009) and some singles. He also made an album with the band Tasottavat and he has appeared on several compilations. Puppa J is the guitarist and singer in the group Jätkäjätkät. Puppa J started his career in the 90s as a vocalist in Laulurastas and is nowadays a highly respected veteran among Finnish music scenes.
Urvani
Urvani brings the sound of the northern nature, forest and earth in a mystical way. Comprised of Kim Ragnar and Jahkob TafarI Urvani is here to take you on a journey, a session, ceremony into the ancient past, present and future. Combining live instruments like kanel, jouhikko, drums, shields and swords with a live dub performance, fusing it into an spiritual musical adventure, Urvani will make you think, dance and see the beauty in life!
Due to the nature of the performance Urvani will perform inside the boat at 22:30.
Selekta Root
Selekta Root prefers music with inspirational sounds influenced by Caribbean and African style of modern rhythm music.
Her selections have music with uplifting spirit and message of positivity. With her sets packed with joyously in-your-face hook it is sure to get the people feel good and dance.
Selekta Root has grown a name for herself as one of the few female reggae dj’s in Finland.
During the past five years she has performed in some of the largest clubs in Helsinki and Tampere as well as had numerous bar gigs around the country. She has also performed abroad in cities like Athens, Amsterdam and Berlin.
Ivah Sound System
The roaring lions from the south of Finland, Ivah Sound will bring Porvoo their rootikal selection of roots, dub & steppas. Ivah Sound has been spreading their message in the form of music for soon 15 years, all around Finland and the rest of Europe. Come and feel the power!
