The textiles on display in the exhibition ”Memories in Eden” consist of plant-printed fabrics, the various textiles that artist Ülle Saatmäe uses consists of natural materials, such as silk, wool, linen, cotton or their mixed fibers. All fabric colors are created as a result of the interaction between plants and fabric primers. The technology offers surprises at every stage and the plant material produces different effects even depending on the weather and time of day. The fabrics are unique and practically impossible to copy. Ülle Saatmäe produces textile artworks in her childhood home in Paatasalu, Lääne County. This place is a kind of Eden for her, where the old customs from the 19th century have been preserved in the collective farm family’s struggle for existence until the end of the artist’s childhood. The photographs displayed in the exhibition describe the feeling and atmosphere of the artist’s childhood, as well as the background and nature of the creation of the canvas.
