Open Art Space for Youths at Art Factory

You are welcome to the open art space in the Art Factory Studio to experiment with and create art or to be inspired. Porvoo’s open art space is for all youths aged 15-29 who are interested in making art on their own. The activities are free of charge.
Come and realise your own visual art and craft projects independently. You can bring your own art materials and accessories or borrow basic materials available in the space. A youth worker is on hand to help and chat with.

The art space is open on Fridays at 16-20. Please note that the art space is not open during school holidays.

The open art space for young people is a joint project between Porvoo Art School and Youth and Cultural Services. The partners also include, among others, visual artists from Porvoo who act as tutors and whom you can meet in the open art space by agreement.

Meet the artists
8.3.2024 Sirja Moberg
Sirja Moberg (b.1989, Siilinjärvi) is a visual artist living in Helsinki. Moberg works with experimental photography, video, installation and bio-art in long-term projects. Moberg’s solo exhibition The Underlying is on view at the Porvoo Art Hall from 16.2.-24.3.2024. The works in the exhibition are spread out in ritual-like formations in the art hall. The photographic and video works explore the invisible, mysterious and diverse nature through soil, life cycles, plant life and the deep time hidden in the landscape. The exhibition also includes soil chromatographs, pigment transfer plates and object and sculpture installations. The exhibition offers perspectives for reflecting on the relationship with nature through experimental photographic representations.

How to I get to the Studio?

Nearest entrance
The closest entrance to the studio is the B-door on Läntinen Aleksanterinkatu side of the building. The studio is on the right-hand side on top of the stairs on the second floor.

Accessible entrance
Enter through the door at Kauppakuja (the door opposite H&M) and take the elevator to the second floor. Walk to the bridge above the foyer and follow the white diamond shaped floor tape to the Studio.
