DOME presents: The Porvoo Safety Day

  • 17.05.2025
  • 10:00 - 14:00

The Porvoo Safety Day event gathers experts, communities, and actors at Porvoo DOME to discuss current safety themes and share useful information to support everyday safety.

The theme of the event is ”Together a safer Porvoo” – during the day, safety will be viewed from different perspectives, such as everyday choices, the importance of communities and families, and how we can together promote trust and a culture of caring in our living environment.

The program for the day:

10:00-10:45 Porvoo Museum museum lecturer Hannele Tenhovuori and museum director Johanna Lehto-Vahtera: ”How did people manage in Porvoo in the past? Three stories from history”

At all times, people encounter unexpected events, troublesome problems, and crises, and when faced with them, they have to think about how to cope. What have been the methods and resources that have been employed when life tests and everyday surprises?

Museum lecturer Hannele Tenhovuori and museum director Johanna Lehto-Vahtera from Porvoo Museum present three Porvoo stories: nanny Fredrika Snygg (1807–1891), Bjurböle meteorite (1899), and photographer Eino Nurmi (1916–1988). The stories provoke thoughts about the life of an ordinary person from the perspectives of safety, individuality, and community.

11:00-11:45 Forensic dentist Helena Ranta

12:00-12:45 National Defence University, Lieutenant Colonel Markus Wahlstein

13:00-13:45 police officer Heidi Foxell

13:45-14:00 Free lidded buckets will be distributed at the security day! The bucket is a versatile tool in everyday life – it can save the situation both in everyday life and in exceptional circumstances. Get yours and prepare wisely!

Porvoon Vesi will also participate in the event.

The event is free and open to everyone. It is organized by the city of Porvoo
