The 40th Suvisoitto festival concludes with a concert that revisits a familiar melody from the festival’s early days. Conducted by John Storgårds, the program includes Birds of Paradise by Swedish composer Andrea Tarrodi, Le Tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel—dedicated to friends who died in World War I—Jeux vénitiens by Witold Lutosławski, and Sebastian Fagerlund’s Clarinet Concerto, which premiered in 2006 at the Korsholm Music Festival, performed then as now by clarinetist Christoffer Sundqvist and conductor John Storgårds.
The festival’s 2026 artistic director will be announced at the closing concert.
