Afternoon activities provide pupils with meaningful, refreshing, high-quality pastimes and support the upbringing and education work of homes and schools.
Afternoon activities are called iltapäivätoiminta or iltapäiväkerho in Finnish and are meant for first and second-year comprehensive school pupils. The activities are available from 12 noon – 5 pm and the child can participate 3-5 hours per day.
Normally the afternoon activities are held at school and arranged by associations or organizations.
Afternoon activities are provided by trained instructors and take place both indoors and outdoors and children can also play on their own.
Children take part in afternoon activities after the school day (they arrive directly from school) and they receive a snack during afternoon activities.
Afternoon activities are not available during school vacations.
You should apply afternoon activity for your child via WILMA (when it is time to apply).
(If you cannot apply in WILMA you can ask for a paper application from the instructors of the afternoon activity)
