The basic tour introduces J. L. Runeberg’s life and works, as well as the family’s life in Porvoo. Suitable for groups of both adults and children.
The tour’s duration is about 30 min and costs €40. Maximum size of a group is 30 persons. We ask that groups take into account that there is limited seating in the museum, for up to only 20 people.
We do not accept group reservations on J. L. Runeberg Day, 5.2.
Schoolchildren and Student Groups
A student tour will be reserved for schoolchildren and student groups. Its duration is about 30 min and its €40 price includes the admission fees for the entire group. For early childhood education and schoolchildren groups from Porvoo, entry is free. Please reserve a time in advance.
The guided tour tells of the interesting stages in the life of Fredrika Runeberg (née Tengström), a multi-talented woman who was ahead of her time, covering aspects such as her work as a journalist and author, mother and social commentator.
Thematic guided tour €60.
Guided garden tour
Fredrika’s garden is one of the few surviving Finnish urban gardens from the 1800s. The carefully restored garden blooms from early spring to late autumn.
Guided garden tour €60. Only during the summer.
Christmas in Runeberg’s Home Museum
The tree in the hall has been decorated with silk ribbons and the hyacinths and candelabras have been brought out: Runeberg’s home offers an authentic 1800s Christmas ambience. The tours include, among other things, the Christmas traditions and foods of the time period, and guests get to try and guess the contents of packages finished with Runeberg’s rhymes.
Thematic guided tour €60. Only during the Christmas season.
Please reserve a time well in advance using the number 040 489 9900 (during museum opening hours) or by e-mail: email@example.com
