All these periods were visible in the shape and ornamentation of the buildings. In the cities, ruins from earlier eras remained part of the urban landscape, and the women were intrigued by the presence of prehistoric and ancient peoples and the resonance of a seemingly living current of time.
The works in the exhibition are based on a journey to Sicily that the artist undertook with her former employer, Diana. Diana and her late mother, Flora, lived in Sicily in the 1970s, and upon returning to the island after many years, Diana found that Sicily had changed significantly. Poverty had declined and living conditions had improved, which pleased her. At the same time, the island that she and Flora had fallen in love with was gone, and the art that had once been present throughout everyday life had been relocated to museums.
In the works presented in the exhibition, Langenskiöld combines photography and sculpture.
