Flight Rehearsals

Johanna Sipilä
16.5.-21.6.2026
Art Hall | Corner

Johanna Sipilä’s daily working and thinking environment is located in a natural forest in northern Espoo. The driving force behind her painting process is wide-ranging observation of nature, encounters with others, music, and the chaos of the surrounding world.

Sipilä’s abstract oil and ink paintings are made on transparently primed linen and cotton canvases. The painting process is layered; the works are built from movement, rhythm, and the tension between colours.

Taiteilijaesittely

Sipilä holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts (2007) and a Master’s in Art Education from Aalto University (2023), and previously studied for three years at the Free Art School. She has exhibited in Finland and abroad for twenty years. Before settling in Nuuksio, she worked at Harakka Artists’ House in Helsinki and in an artist community in Tallinn.

The exhibition has been supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland and Finnish
Heritage Agency.
