Turun Anikistit
3.4-10.5.2026
Porvoo Art Hall | Fikka
Turun Anikistit brings animation art from Turku to the Fikka at Porvoo Art Hall. The animation collective’s retrospective is presented in Porvoo on an unusually small scale. The collectively created animation works are projected onto miniature cardboard installations built to the same scale as the set elements in the animations. The works reflect and celebrate the association’s past 20 years. The animations themselves take the form of short films, media art and projections. The exhibition offers the viewer a chance to peek into the world of animation from above, in the role of the “divine spectator”. Animation art in Finland may be small but is nonetheless important and wonderful, like a flea’s fist!
About the association
Turun Anikistit association promotes and develops the making of independent and non-commercial animation art and raises its visibility in the Southwest Finland region. The association’s 22 members are, with the exception of the producer, graduates of the animation programme at Turku Arts Academy. The animation films, created through the Anikistit’s collective working method, have gained recognition at international festivals and some of the works can often be seen in the urban landscape of Turku. The association has to date produced seven collective animations and organised six exhibitions, five film screenings, seven animation camps and five workshops. Its achievements in the field of animation art have now continued for a total of 20 years.
The association’s members Sade Lahti, Lauri Järvenpää, Tommi Juutilainen, Reetta Halkosaari, Frida Lindholm, Tapani Tolonen and Iida-Sofia Kivistö have together planned and built the exhibition in the Art Hall’s Fikka, presenting the association’s collective animations over the years.
