Art School’s Picture Gallery

The gallery features works by students from the Porvoo Art School groups in Porvoo and Sipoo, as well as students of Kuvismuskari.

Introductury Studies, ages 0–5

Early childhood art education enriches the imagination. Children explore art through play and multisensory activities. They practice visual expression, the use of materials, observing their environment, as well as concentration and working together.

Intermediate Studies, ages 6–11

In the intermediate studies, students learn the fundamental knowledge and skills of image-making and develop their visual thinking and expression verbally, in writing, and through images. They become familiar with artists’ working methods and artistic techniques, and explore art history and different cultures.

Advanced Studies, ages 12–19

In the advanced studies, previously acquired skills are strengthened and independent expression is developed in workshops in general visual arts, product design, and media art. Students experiment broadly with different areas of art and deepen their expertise in their chosen field, while learning to plan and carry out their own projects.

Final Project

The studies include the opportunity to complete a final project. The final project is an independent artistic project that includes an artwork or a series of works, a portfolio, a self-assessment, and participation in an exhibition. Through the final project, the student demonstrates maturity of thought, artistic strengths, expressive ability, and the capacity for independent work.
