Rules for Band Rooms

  • 1. MANAGEMENT ANS SUPERVISION: Porvoo Youth Services rents the rooms from Pensselitehdas Association and sublets them to young music enthusiasts. Staff from Pensselitehdas and Youth Services have the right to enter rented rooms with their own keys. Youth Services staff conduct inspections during the day, evenings, and weekends.
  • 2. ROOM RENTAL: Rooms are primarily rented to young people aged 13–25 living in Porvoo. Some band members may differ from the age or residency criteria. Rooms may also be rented to older musicians if available. There are 10 rooms ranging from 6 m² to 34 m². Larger rooms can accommodate two bands by agreement. Monthly rent is €6.10/m² for under 25 and €8.20/m² for ages 26–29. Keys are electronic and room-specific. Lease agreements are valid for three years. For underage members, guardians sign the lease and consent form. New bands have a three-month trial period. Subletting or lending rooms to outsiders is prohibited. Rent invoices are sent monthly in arrears; for underage bands, the invoice goes to the guardian of the contact person.
  • 3. USE OF THE ROOM: Rooms can be used daily from 9:00 to 23:00. Equipment transport is allowed at other times. Band members must fill in the usage log whenever they rehearse. The contact person is responsible for any visiting musicians. Rooms are for music practice only. Overnight stays and living in the rooms are prohibited. Smoking, substance use, and possession are strictly forbidden. Bands are responsible for cleanliness. Cleaning supplies are available, and there is an outdoor trash bin. Do not hang fabrics or carpets on walls or ceilings. Acoustic improvements must use non-flammable materials. After rehearsals, unplug all electrical devices. The room is not suitable for crafts or workshop use.
  • 4. BAND CONTACT PERSON AND MEMBERS: The band selects a contact person who signs the lease and receives the key. Youth Services communicates primarily with the contact person, who ensures compliance with rules and informs Youth Services of any changes in member contact details.
  • 5. TERMINATION OF LEASE: Youth Services may terminate the lease for rule violations. The warning procedure consists of two warnings; after a third violation, the lease is terminated, and the room must be vacated immediately. If not vacated, Youth Services will clear the room and charge the band for costs. Bands may terminate the lease themselves, effective at the end of the month. Youth Services may also terminate an ongoing lease if a band meeting the rental criteria needs the space. Vacating schedules are agreed upon separately.
  • 6. OTHER: Youth Services does not insure the contents of the rooms; bands must arrange their own insurance. Report any issues, damage, or concerns to the Youth Services contact person. Behave appropriately in outdoor areas.
