Kevätkummun koulu provides education for grades 1–6. The school I located about three kilometers from the center of Porvoo. It operates in the Kantele and Vellamo buildings together with Vårberga skola, an after-school club, a preschool, a library, as well as youth and sports services.
The school has approximately 310 students and around 35 teaching and support staff members. Education is based on co-teaching and team teaching, as well as the integration and inclusion of students from both preparatory education and flexible learning groups. Kevätkummun koulu is developed as a local neighbourhood school that can respond to the needs of the children in the area. At the school, basic skills are learned together, creatively and with joy. The staff functions as a learning community, with an approach that is inquiry-based, experiential, and built on flexible cooperation and shared expertise. Our goal is to help everyone discover the joy of learning and working.
