Vacation periods in early childhood education

Book care reservations and / or absences in DaisyFamily no later than 30 days before the start of the holiday.

Make reservations och declare absenses during holidays in good time

  • Please report your child’s daycare reservations and absences for the autumn, Christmas and winter holidays, as well as June-July, via DaisyFamily at least 30 days before the start of the holiday period. Remember to mark both the reservation and the absence. Do not leave empty days in the booking calendar.
  • You can change the times of booked reservations within the normal two-week booking period.

Early childhood education activities will be reduced and some daycare centers will be closed during the holidays, as well as during the summer, usually from Midsummer until the end of July. Early childhood education services will be concentrated in the daycare center that is open in the area at that time.

There is no free of charge preschool or club activities during the holidays.

Remember to cancel the care you booked for vacation period if you don’t need it!

  • Cancellations for June must be made by May 15 th.
  • Cancellations for June must be made by June 15 th.
  • For other vacation periods, before the start of the vacation period.

Why is cancellation necessary?

  • Punctuality of meal orders. Avoiding food waste is our special goal.
  • We book staff according to childcare bookings. We grant additional holidays if the children are not there.
  • If our own staff gets holidays during June-July, not so many substitutes are needed during the year and staff familiar to the children would be there when the children are there.

Tip: There are vacation periods in October, December, January, February, June and July. If a child is on vacation during all school vacation periods, there are not many long months during the year. Since the selected hour limit can also be exceeded, it is worth calculating whether a lower hour limit would be enough for the whole year. This way, you avoid having to apply for a new hour limit too often.

Invoicing of holiday periods

  • July is free of charge if the child has started no later than August of the previous year and the child has been on vacation for at least three weeks during the operating period, with prior notice, for reasons other than illness or absences due to a lower hour limit. If the child has not had vacation for at least three weeks during the operating year, July will also be invoiced.
  • If a child is absent for the entire month of June or July and the absence is reported no later than April 30th, the month is free of charge.
  • If a child has a place reserved for June and it is not cancelled by May 15th and the place is not used, half of the monthly fee will be charged. We charge half of the lowest fee, even if the child has not been defined as a fee based on income.
  • If a child has a place reserved for July and it is not cancelled by June 15th and the place is not used, half of the monthly fee will be charged. We charge half of the lowest fee, even if the child has not been defined as a fee based on income.
  • No refunds will be granted for absences during other vacation periods.
