Ticket prices in the Porvoo bus
Porvoo bus tickets (tickets sold by the City of Porvoo) are valid on lines 1, 2, 3 and 5, and the lines S1-S4 that run in the archipelago. Additionally, some operators have ticket cooperation. Read more about ticket cooperation further on the page.

Ticket products marked with * can only be purchased via the Matkahuolto Matkat mobile application. All tickets purchased via the app are validated on the bus by scanning the ticket’s QR code.
Ticket prices include VAT 13,5%.
Student tickets
As a student, you can travel at a discounted price on Porvoo buses. Student ticket products are available only through the Matkahuolto Matkat mobile app. Before you can buy a student ticket, you must verify your student status at Porvoo Info starting from 3 August.
Conditions for the student discount
You can receive the student discount if all of the following conditions are met:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are studying in Finland at one of the following:
- a comprehensive school
- an upper secondary school (high school)
- a folk high school
- a vocational institution
- a university of applied sciences
- a university
- Your studies are full-time and last at least one academic year (approximately 8 months).
- Your studies lead to a qualification, degree, or comprehensive school certificate.
What counts as full-time studies?
- Vocational qualifications, upper secondary school studies, and higher education degrees are automatically considered full-time.
- Other vocational studies are considered full-time if they involve at least 25 hours of study per week.
- The student discount also applies to preparatory education programs defined by the Finnish National Agency for Education that are intended to lead to degree studies.
How to get a student ticket
- Verify your student status at Porvoo Info from 3 August onwards.
- Preferably show your study information from the My Studyinfo (Oma Opintopolku) service, or present a valid student card.
- Decide which student ticket you want to purchase in the Matkat app. The available products and prices are listed below.
- You will receive a personal activation code from Porvoo Info.
- Activate the student ticket product in the Matkahuolto Matkat app using the code.
- Purchase your student ticket in the app.
- Your student status must be verified once every academic year.
Before visiting Porvoo Info
Please make sure that:
- You can log in to the My Studyinfo (Oma Opintopolku) service and that your study entitlement is visible there.
- If your study information is not available in Studyinfo, bring a valid student card.
- You know in advance which student ticket product you want to buy.
- Different student ticket products require different activation codes.
Using the activation code
After your student status has been verified, you will receive one code that allows you to activate your chosen student ticket product in the Matkahuolto Matkat app.
Please note:
- Only one student ticket product code can be active in the app at a time.
- The same code can be used to repurchase the same ticket product after the previous ticket has been used. The code is valid until 31 May 2027.
- If you want to switch to a different student ticket product, you must obtain a new code from Porvoo Info.

Student ticket prices
Serial tickets
A serial ticket is valid for 60 days from the date of purchase. Each trip is valid for 60 minutes from activation, during which time you may transfer between Porvoo Bus routes an unlimited number of times.

Ticket validity period
- The single ticket is valid for 60 minutes and permits the ticket holder to change buses within this time to another Porvoo bus. For example, a return trip is possible if it starts during the ticket’s validity. The 60-minute validity period applies to both single tickets purchased via the Matkat app and those bought on the bus.
- The day ticket 24 h is valid for 24 hours and allows unlimited travel on Porvoo bus lines. Ticket validity period begins from the moment of purchase or when it is activated. The activation start time can be changed in the app.
- A seasonal ticket is valid for 30 or 90 days from the date of purchase via the Matkat app. It permits unlimited travel. The ticket is personal.
- Serial tickets are valid for 60 days from the date of purchase. One ride on a serial ticket is valid for 60 minutes from the time of validation, and you may transfer between Porvoo bus lines multiple times. You can also use your serial ticket to pay for another passenger’s journey.
Who is allowed to travel free of charge?
- Children under 7 years of age
- A person holding an EU disability card. The disability card must include the marking “A” to allow an assistant or two assitants to travel along for free.
- A person with a Visual Impairment Card and an assistant
- A wheelchair user and an assistant
- Rollator user
- Veterans
- An adult may travel free of charge with a child in a pram or stroller. However, if you bring a pram or stroller on a Porvoo bus without a child, you must have a valid ticket for the journey.
These are valid for the Porvoo bus, i.e. transport bought by the city of Porvoo, lines 1, 2, 3 and 5, and lines S1-S4 that runs in the archipelago.

Which other lines accept Porvoo bus tickets?
Tickets sold by the City of Porvoo (Porvoo bus tickets) can be used on routes 1, 2, 3 and 5, and the lines S1-S4 that run in the archipelago.
The Porvoo bus season and serial tickets are also valid on certain regional bus lines purchased by Traficom (ELY) and market-based bus lines within the Porvoo City region. Note! Porvoo bus mobile single tickets and Day ticket 24h are not valid on Traficom (ELY) and market-based bus lines.

How to buy tickets?
- Porvoo bus single, serial and season tickets can be purchased from Matkahuolto’s Matkat application. You will find the tickets in the app by entering “Porvoo” in the search field.
- Single tickets can also be purchased on the bus with a payment card or cash.
- You can also buy serial tickets or season tickets on behalf of another person via the application Matkahuolto’s Matkat, and transfer the unused ticket to their mobile device.
- A traveller who does not have access to the application can buy a travel card on the Matkahuolto website, with the desired amount of money downloaded onto it. Read more on the Matkahuolto web page.

Ticket products, prices, age groups and discounts are different in the traffic supplied by Traficom (ELY) and market-based traffic. The Porvoo bus season and serial tickets are valid on certain bus lines purchased by Traficom (ELY) and market-based bus lines within the Porvoo City region. Read more under “Ticket cooperation”.
Tickets for some of the Traficom (ELY) lines and market-based traffic lines can be found on the Matkahuolto’s Matkat application. If you can’t buy a ticket from the application, check the operator’s own website.
