Work placement within the Integration Training
Work placements within the Integration Training program provide participants with opportunities to use the Finnish language in real workplace settings. Eployers can support integration by offering placement opportunities.
Offer a Work Placement for Students in the Integration Training Program
Each year, approximately 200 adults participate in the Integration Training Program within the Porvoo employment area. In addition to learning the Finnish language, the program also includes studies in civic knowledge, society, and working life.
The program includes two work placements, giving participants the opportunity to use Finnish in a real workplace environment. The first placement lasts two weeks and takes place midway through the program. The second lasts six weeks and is held at the end of the training. In both placements, it is especially important that participants actively use the Finnish language.
The Role of the Workplace During the Placement
The aim of the placement is for participants to gain as much hands-on experience as possible and to practice using Finnish in authentic work situations. A positive and encouraging attitude from the work community supports the participant’s learning and integration.
No professional evaluation is required from the employer.
Practical Arrangements
- The employer is responsible for the participant’s occupational safety and appoints both a supervisor and an onboarding guide at the workplace.
- The placement is unpaid, and the City of Porvoo provides accident insurance for the participant.
- The work day may be a maximum of 7 hours long. Placements are usually carried out on weekdays, but evening or weekend work is also possible with the participant’s consent.
