Ilolan koulu is a modern village school located in the village of Ilola. The school is situated about nine kilometres from the centre of Porvoo, in the historic surroundings of Postimäki, and has approximately fifty students.
Ilolan koulu is a safe, pleasant, and modern village school. It offers students experiences, knowledge, skills, and values that enable them to make responsible decisions affecting themselves and others. Collaboration is a defining feature of the school’s activities, visible in shared events and working together. Through cooperation, we develop social skills, a sense of responsibility, and acceptance of diversity. Responsibility and respect for nature are emphasized in the school’s activities, and the surrounding natural environment is widely used as a learning setting.
The school uses two buildings: a new school building opened in 2021 and Taitotalo, an old school building originally constructed in 1892. The modern classrooms in the new building are versatile and easily adaptable.
At Ilolan koulu, hobby activities are organized in line with the Porvoo model for extracurricular activities.
