Jokilaakson koulu
Finnish comprehensive school in Porvoo.
Savimäentie 6, 06530 Kerkkoo
Jokilaakson koulu is located about 10 kilometers north of the center of Porvoo, in the cultural landscape of the Porvoo river valley. Students mainly come from the villages of Henttala, Kaarnenkylä, Kerkkoo, Saksala, Teissala, Tuorila, Vanhamoisio, and Virtaala.
The school operates in a new building that was opened in 2021. The sports hall, completed in 1992 and renovated in 2021, is used for teaching arts and practical subjects. In addition to the school, the same facilities house early childhood education and pre-primary groups from Hornhattula, an after-school club run by the Kerkkoo Youth Association mainly for grades 1–2, a branch of the Porvoo library, and hobby clubs and activities organized by other partners such as Porvoo Sports Services, the Adult Education Centre, the Finnish Parish of Porvoo, and various associations.
At our school, we place great importance on strong foundational skills, student well-being, cooperation, and participation.
