Ideas made real – vote for ideas by 28 March 2024

The second round of participatory budgeting in Porvoo has progressed to the voting stage. A total of 178 ideas were evaluated and 39 of them have now proceeded to the voting stage.

You can vote for ideas during March 13-28. Each person can vote once to select the ideas to be implemented for a total of 50 000 euros. There is also a calculator that shows how much it costs to implement different ideas. You can freely vote for as many as ideas as you want, provided they do not exceed the total budget of 50 000 euros. The voting link will be sent to your personal email address.

You can vote by submitting a paper form in either Porvoo City Library or in Service Point Compass (Rihkamatori B)

A wide range of ideas

The evaluation team has reviewed all 178 idea proposals. The evaluation team consisted of the city’s experts and representatives of the Council for Older People, the Council for People with Disabilities, and the Youth Council. Ideas that did not meet all the evaluation criteria were eliminated at this stage.

– We noticed that many ideas can be combined with existing or planned future activities, even if the idea does not as such meet the voting criteria, i.e. if it is not feasible, for example, within the budget, says inclusion coordinator Maija Eklöf.

Almost all the ideas promoted cost awareness and the idea of what is possible to implement with 50 000 euros. This time the ideas concerned several sectors, but we have also received overlapping ideas, for example, concerning swimming hall equipment. Such ideas have mostly made it to the voting stage, Eklöf continues.

All ideas, including those that did not proceed to voting stage have been published online together with their descriptions and evaluations. The name of the person responsible for the idea will not be published. The ideas have not been translated but are in the given language.

16 of the ideas were not within the implementing powers of the city. These ideas have been passed on to the Wellbeing services county of East Uusimaa, Rosk´n Roll, Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, Kokon ski centre, Citymarket, PORSK Porvoonseudun koiraharrastajat ry, Matkahuolto, Art Factory and Lundi Shopping Centre

– This year’s ideas show that the previous round is still quite recent, but again the ideas were well thought out, for which I thank everyone. The process has once again been strongly engaging among the city’s employees, Eklöf says.
