The student becomes familiar with the basic knowledge and skills of image-making. Developing visual thinking and expression is an important part of the instruction.
Ages 10–11 (3 hours/week)
3 hours/week, 102 hours per academic year
€170/semester (€340/year)
The student becomes familiar with artists’ working processes and learns to recognize different art techniques. At the same time, they learn to follow their own artistic process and express their thoughts verbally, in writing, and visually.
In intermediate studies, the student learns to:
- practice and develop their own visual expression
- explore the expressive possibilities of different materials and techniques
- use materials and tools appropriately, safely, and in accordance with sustainable development
- practice visual and related verbal expression
- become broadly familiar with different areas of visual art and visual media, including media technology
- practice critical interpretation of images as both creator and consumer of visual media
- examine and interpret works from different periods and cultures
- explore the relationship between form and content in visual art
- become familiar with the basic concepts of art history and aesthetics
- examine nature, architecture, and the object environment from aesthetic and sustainable perspectives, and understand the importance of the environment for personal and collective well-being
- complete guided homework assignments
- compile a portfolio of their extended basic studies at the end of the program
