In addition to the main library, Porvoo libraries include three local libraries and a mobile library. You can also use the Kevätkumpu and Gammelbacka libraries during self-service hours.

Main Library
The entire library is open:
- Mon–Thu 10 am – 7 pm
- Fri 10 am – 5 pm
- Sat 9 am – 3 pm
Magazine reading room and pick-up of reservations are open:
- Mon–Thu 9 am – 7 pm
- Fri 9 am – 5 pm
- Sat 9 am – 3 pm
- Sun 10 am – 1 pm

There is an disabled parking space near the main entrance. If necessary, you can drive your car closer to the main entrance to drop off a disabled passenger as close to the doors as possible. However, the car must be parked in the marked accessible parking place.
The exterior doors of the building have either elbow or string openers. There are disabled toilets on both the ground and first floors. The building also has a lift.

The main library car park is behind the library building. Drive into it from Törmäkatu.
Drop box
The main library has a drop box where you can return borrowed items when the library is closed. Returns will be processed the next working day. The drop box is at the top of the stairs leading from the main entrance.
Gammelbacka Library
Gammelbacka library services will be completely closed from 13 to 24 March.
A temporary service point will open in the Gammelbacka Wellbeing Centre (Tornipolku 10) on Wednesday, 25 March. Opening hours:

The library building is on one level, but otherwise the library is not currently wheelchair-friendly.

What is the self-service library?
Self-service hours are longer than the regular library opening hours. You can visit the library during self-service hours when the staff is not present.
To use the self-service library, you need a Helle library card and PIN (4 digits). If you don’t have a PIN yet, you can get it from the library. The PIN is not given by phone or email.
Patrons must scan their cards individually to enter the self-service library. Children can enter when their parents/guardians scan their cards. During self-service hours, the library’s facilities, materials and services can be used in almost the same way as when staff are present.
During the self-service hours, you can:
- borrow and return material with circulation machines
- pick up your reserved material
- read magazines
- use computers, copier and the wireless network
- read, study, work and hang out
Picking up reserved material
The arrival notice for the reservation contains your hold ID, which allows you to find the items on the reservation shelf. Remember to check out your reservation at the circulation machine.
