Children and young people

You can find the children’s library on the first level of the main library. You can find the children’s library through the entrance upstairs, by elevator or by stairs.

The children’s library is spacious and bright, and the shelves are low and child friendly. The children’s library has:

• Furniture suitable for all ages, including baby chairs
• Two toilets, one of which is accessible
• Separate lending machine
• Five tablets that can be borrowed for use in the library

We have books, DVD movies, CD audiobooks and music for children and adults. The staff will be happy to help you find suitable material.

You can find the youth library on the first level of the main library. Young people can hang out both in the Youth Library and by the Art Bridge. The Youth Library has books, DVDs, audiobooks and an extensive comic book collection for young people. In addition, the department has two computers for patron use and a workshop space where you can try a range equipment.

Youth library staff are happy to help when you are looking for a good read, need a new library card, or want to find information on different topics.

A child under 15 needs written permission from a parent/guardian to get a library card. The library card application can be printed and filled out before the first visit.

The first library card is free. The same library card works at all Porvoo City Libraries and Helle libraries.
