Course fees and payment methods
Paying for the course online
You can pay for the course online either immediately when you register or later via a payment link sent to your email. The payment methods are the same in both cases.
You will receive the payment link by email approximately one week before the course starts if you did not pay at the time of registration. Please also check your spam folder.
By choosing Ceepos online payment, you can pay the course fee via online banking, MobilePay, or by credit card.
By choosing Epassi, you can pay the course fee using Epassi’s sports and culture benefit through the Epassi online service. The payment will automatically be linked to the invoice.
Note! Do not pay using the Epassi mobile app at the time of registration, as the payment will not be linked to the invoice.
Paper invoice, e-invoice and direct debit
If you do not pay the course fee online, you will receive a paper invoice by post with a new due date 2–4 weeks after the course has started.
If you have an e-invoice agreement with the City of Porvoo, the invoice will be sent to your bank as an e-invoice. Direct debit invoices are sent automatically to the bank and the notification is sent by post.
We recommend paying online or adopting e-invoicing. The city aims to reduce paper usage and mailing costs caused by paper invoices.
Note! Course fees cannot be paid at the institute office.
Paying with benefits
You can pay course fees using sports, culture, and recreational benefits. Sports benefits can only be used for sports and dance courses. Open university courses cannot be paid with benefits.
With Epassi, you can pay directly in the adult education centre’s online service. Use the Epassi payment button on the registration page, and the payment will automatically be linked to the invoice.
If you use a mobile app or other benefits (e.g. Smartum or Edenred), make the payment online/in the app and send your registration details and a screenshot of the payment to kansalaisopisto@porvoo.fi.
If you have already received a paper invoice, you can pay the course fee with benefits at Porvoo Info (Lundinkatu 8 A).
Please note that benefits are personal – you cannot pay someone else’s course fees.
Paying partly with benefits
You can choose to pay only part of the course fee with benefits. Pay the desired amount online or via the benefits app, and send your registration details and a screenshot of the payment to kansalaisopisto@porvoo.fi. You will receive a new payment link for the remaining balance.
If you have already received a paper invoice, you can pay part with benefits and part by card at Porvoo Info during the same visit. Alternatively, you can make payments separately:
- Pay part using the benefits app
- Pay the remaining amount via online banking using the paper invoice details
- Send images of the paper invoice, the benefits payment, and the bank payment to kansalaisopisto@porvoo.fi
Terms of using benefits
- Benefits are personal – you cannot pay someone else’s course fees
- Benefits cannot be used to pay for open university courses
- Benefits cannot be used to reimburse fees already paid
- If you use benefits to pay for multiple courses, each course must be paid separately
- The adult education centre cannot guarantee refunds of fees paid with benefits, as refund policies vary between providers
Cancellation policy
Cancellation of a course place must be made no later than seven calendar days before the course starts. If the cancellation is made too late or not at all, the full course fee will be charged. Registration can be cancelled online or through the office via email.
Courses do not offer free trial sessions. By registering, you commit to paying the course fee. Unpaid course fees will be transferred to a debt collection agency after the due date.
With a doctor’s or nurse’s certificate, the course fee or part of it will be refunded in proportion to the remaining sessions if you fall ill and cannot attend. However, amounts under €10 are not refunded.
Course fees are not refunded if you stop attending for reasons other than illness.
The course fee will be refunded if the course is cancelled or discontinued due to insufficient participants. One cancelled session is generally not compensated with an extra session in long courses. Refunds under €10 are not paid.
For open university studies, cancellation must be made in writing by email both to the institute office and to the office of the open university organizing the studies.
Study Voucher Grant for Unemployed Persons and Immigrants
The Adult Education Centre grants study voucher assistance to unemployed persons and immigrants. The grant amount is €30 per person and will be deducted from the course fee. The study voucher can be applied for at the office by presenting proof that the applicant belongs to one of the eligible groups.
Study voucher grants are awarded as long as funding is available.
Please note: The grant cannot be used if the course has already been paid for or invoiced. The grant does not apply to self-financed courses or Open University courses.
