Course fees and payment methods
Payment Methods
1. When you register
When you sign up for a course, you can pay the course fee at the same time. After entering your personal information, click Submit Registration (Lähetä ilmoittautuminen). By selecting Ceepos, you can pay the course fee through your online bank, MobilePay, or with your credit card.
By selecting the Epassi employee benefit payment button, you can pay the course fee in the Epassi web service. When you click the payment button, you will be directed to the Epassi web service to complete your payment, and then returned to the online store.
Do not pay with the Epassi mobile app during registration, as the payment will not be linked to the invoice. If you want to pay with the mobile app, wait until you receive a paper invoice at home. Then send a picture of the payment and the invoice to kansalaisopisto@porvoo.fi.
The easiest method, however, is to use the Epassi payment button in the payment link, as the payment is then automatically connected to the invoice.
2. Payment via payment link
If you did not pay the course fee when registering—or if you tried to pay but it did not work—you will receive a payment link by email 1–2 weeks before the course starts (also check your spam folder).
With the payment link, by selecting Ceepos, you can pay the course fee via your online bank, MobilePay, or with your credit card.
By selecting the Epassi payment button, you can also pay the course fee in the Epassi web service. When you click the payment button, you will be directed to the Epassi service to complete your payment and then returned to the online store.
Do not pay with the Epassi mobile app, as the payment will not be linked to the invoice. If you want to pay with the mobile app, wait until you receive a paper invoice. Then send a picture of the payment and invoice to: kansalaisopisto@porvoo.fi.
We recommend using the payment link, as you do not need an account number or reference number when using it.
3. Paper invoice sent by post or e-invoice / direct debit
If you do not pay the course fee online, you will receive a paper invoice by post 2–4 weeks after the course has started (with a later due date).
Those who have an e-invoice agreement with the City of Porvoo will receive their e-invoice directly in their online bank.
4. Employee benefit vouchers and balances
If you want to pay with employee benefit vouchers or balances (Smartum, ePassi, Edenred), wait until you receive your invoice by post (2–4 weeks after the course has started). After receiving the invoice, contact Borgåinfo. Borgåinfo is open Mon–Fri 9:00–15:00.
You can also send a picture of the completed payment by email to kansalaisopisto@porvoo.fi. Include a picture of the invoice or the invoice number so that the payment can be correctly allocated. Also remember to mention which course the payment concerns.
If you use your balance to pay for several courses, pay each course separately.
Note: The benefit is personal. You cannot, for example, pay a family member’s course fee with your employee benefits.
5. Paying the course fee with several different payment methods
If you want to pay the course fee using several payment methods—for example, half with balance or vouchers and half with a card—wait to receive a paper invoice. After that, you can go to Borgåinfo and pay part of the amount with your balance and part with a card.
Another option is to pay part of the course fee with the app and the remaining part via online banking using the details on the paper invoice. Take a picture of the paper invoice, the app payment, and the online bank payment. Send all three images to kansalaisopisto@porvoo.fi.
6. Paying with a gift card
Do not pay the course fee when registering online. Notify the office immediately after registering that you want to use a gift card.
Please note: We do not refund any remaining balance on a gift card, but you may use the remaining amount to pay for other courses. If the course costs more than the value of the gift card, you will receive an invoice for the difference.
The gift card cannot be used if the course participation has already been invoiced.
Please note!
- It is no longer possible to pay in cash at Borgåinfo (card payments only).
- Course fees cannot be paid at the adult education centre’s office.
Course Fees and Cancellation of Course Registration
When you register for a course, you commit to paying the course fee. The course fee is personal and covers the instruction. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own course materials, textbooks, study visit costs, and any other items needed for participation. In addition, participants pay any material fees or study visit costs for courses where these apply. It is not possible to try a course once and then cancel your registration afterward.
Cancelling a Course Registration
If you wish to cancel your course registration, send an email to kansalaisopisto@porvoo.fi. Please do this no later than seven days before the course begins. A course registration cannot be cancelled by informing the teacher only. If you cancel too late or not at all, we will charge the full course fee. Any unpaid invoices will be forwarded to a debt collection agency after the due date.
A course fee is refunded only if the institute cancels or discontinues a course due to an insufficient number of participants.
A participant who chooses to withdraw from a course that has already started will not receive a refund.
The institute does not refund course fees under 10 euros.
Smartum, ePassi and Edenred
Smartum, ePassi and Edenred are accepted as payment methods for course fees. The vouchers are personal.
Go to Porvoo Info to make the payment after you have received the course invoice by post. If you cannot visit Porvoo Info, you may also send a picture of the completed online payment by email to kansalaisopisto@porvoo.fi. Remember to mention which course the payment concerns.
Exercise and culture vouchers, including the cultural benefit, can be used as payment for all courses at the institute except Open University courses. Exercise vouchers may be used only for sports and dance courses.
Course fees that have already been paid cannot later be exchanged for payment with vouchers.
