Porvoo has long had the status of the foremost Christmas City of Southern Finland. The city has been the official goodwill city of Santa Claus since 2019 and even has its own Christmas elf, Fredrik Flodbåt.
Promoting everyday exercise
Marjo Rantala started as the director of the City of Porvoo Sports Services in February 2024. She encourages everyday exercise and learning an active lifestyle at one’s own pace.
Urban planning is all about communication
Apart from the old, fine pine trees, the Edelfeltinranta area looks nothing special to the layman’s eye. Instead, Porvoo’s urban planning manager, Jarkko Lyytinen, sees through a grey spring day to the future, where Edelfeltinranta will be a pleasant and ecological residential area by the sea for 300 new residents.
Voting in Participatory Budgeting is completed – 9 ideas proceed to implementation
The vote on participatory budgeting closed before Easter. As a result of the vote, the City of Porvoo will implement 9 ideas during this year. The total cost estimate for implementing the ideas is 47 500 euros.
Ideas made real – vote for ideas by 28 March 2024
The second round of participatory budgeting in Porvoo has progressed to the voting stage. A total of 178 ideas were evaluated and 39 of them have now proceeded to the voting stage.
